Shopify PPC management costs at a glance
If you only read one table, read this one. The ranges are directional, collected from agencies that publish prices and from quotes US store owners commonly receive. Most agencies still quote after a call, so treat these as a planning benchmark, not a market average.
| Who runs your ads | Typical monthly fee | Usual model | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freelancer | $500 to $2,000 | Hourly or flat | One channel, under $10,000 of monthly spend |
| Specialist Shopify PPC agency | $1,500 to $6,000 | Flat fee or 10 to 20 percent of spend | Google and Meta, $10,000 to $60,000 of spend |
| Full service paid media agency | $5,000 and up | Flat fee, often with a spend cap | Four or more channels, heavy creative needs |
| PaidCampaigns | $2,500, $6,000 or $10,000 | Flat fee, or 12 percent of spend with a $3,000 minimum | Stores that want feed, ads, creative and tracking in one plan |
Ad spend is never part of these numbers. It goes to Google, Meta or TikTok on top of the fee.
Flat monthly fee for Shopify PPC services
A flat fee buys a defined scope: a set number of channels, a ceiling on managed spend, a number of new ads a month and a reporting rhythm. The fee stays the same when the agency raises your budget, so nobody earns more by spending more of your money. The catch is scope creep in reverse. A flat fee with a vague scope can shrink to a weekly bid check and a PDF report, so ask for the written list of deliverables before you compare prices.
Percentage of ad spend
Here the agency takes a share of your monthly media budget, commonly 10 to 20 percent, with a minimum fee so small accounts still pay for setup and tracking work. It is easy to budget and it scales with the account. The weakness is incentive: the agency earns more when you spend more, even in months where the extra spend brings weaker returns. If you pick this model, agree on a spend plan and a review point before any budget increase.
Setup fees and one-time audits
Many Shopify PPC agencies charge a setup fee of several hundred to a few thousand dollars on top of the monthly fee. Sometimes it pays for real work, such as rebuilding a broken feed or moving tracking to server-side events. Often it pays for things any agency has to do to start, like getting account access and reading your data. Ask what the setup fee buys that the monthly fee does not.
Performance-based deals
Pay per sale or revenue share deals exist, and they sound safe. Read the conditions. The agency may want to own the ad accounts, decide which orders count, or limit which products it will advertise. On Shopify, where returns and discount codes change the real value of an order, that definition matters a lot.
What makes Shopify PPC management cost more
The same factors set the price at almost every agency, whatever model they quote.
- Catalog size and feed quality. A store with 40 products and clean data needs little feed work. A store with 8,000 variants, missing GTINs and frequent disapprovals in Merchant Center needs a lot, and that work happens before any campaign improves.
- Number of channels. Google Shopping and Performance Max alone is one job. Adding Meta Advantage+, TikTok Shop and Microsoft Shopping means more catalogs, more audiences and more creative.
- Creative volume. Meta and TikTok burn through ads quickly. A plan with 25 new ads a month costs more than a plan with 8, and a plan with none will stall.
- Tracking on Shopify. Shopify moved order status page scripts to Customer Events and web pixels, so older tracking snippets stop firing. Rebuilding purchase tracking for Google, Meta and TikTok with deduplication is real work, and it decides whether the ad platforms learn from true orders.
- Seasonality. Stores that live on Black Friday, Cyber Monday and a few launch drops need budgets, promotions and creative planned weeks ahead.
- Reporting depth. A dashboard with return on ad spend is cheaper to deliver than weekly notes with blended revenue, new customer cost and margin by product group.
What Shopify PPC services should include for the fee
Before you sign, check that the monthly fee covers the work that actually moves revenue on a Shopify store.
- An onboarding audit of Google Ads, Merchant Center, Meta Commerce Manager, GA4 and your Shopify tracking.
- Feed work in Merchant Center: titles, product types, categories, GTINs, custom labels for margin and bestsellers.
- Campaign management on every channel in scope, with weekly changes you can see in a log.
- New ad creatives every month for Meta, TikTok and Performance Max asset groups.
- Purchase tracking that counts one order once across platforms.
- A report you can read without a meeting, showing what your store booked against what you spent.
Fees and terms to question
- Long minimum terms such as 6 or 12 months with no exit, especially before the agency has shown any work.
- Ad accounts or pixels registered to the agency instead of your business. You should own every account and every asset.
- Media markups, where the agency pays Google or Meta and bills you a combined amount you cannot audit.
- Separate charges for feed fixes, tracking repairs or monthly creative that should be part of management.
Questions to ask a Shopify PPC agency before you buy
Use these to compare quotes on equal terms. A good agency answers each one in writing.
- Which channels does the fee cover, and up to what monthly ad spend?
- How many new ads do we get each month, and who makes them?
- Who fixes the Merchant Center feed, and is it included?
- How will purchases be tracked after Shopify's move to Customer Events, and how do you prevent double counting?
- Do we own the Google Ads, Merchant Center, Meta and TikTok accounts?
- What does it cost to cancel, and when does cancellation take effect?
Paid traffic also brings plenty of shoppers who add to cart and leave. Good management lowers that number, but it never reaches zero, so many stores pair their ads with an abandoned cart recovery flow that brings part of that traffic back through email and SMS.
How PaidCampaigns prices Shopify PPC management
Our prices are public and every plan is a monthly subscription with no setup fee. You pay Google, Meta and TikTok directly from your own card, in accounts registered to your business.
- Growth costs $2,500 per month for up to $25,000 of monthly ad spend on two channels, for example Google Shopping and Meta, with 8 new creatives a month, GA4 and one Conversions API, and a dedicated specialist.
- Scale costs $6,000 per month for up to $100,000 of spend on up to five channels, 25 new creatives a month, full server-side tracking with every Conversions API, one A/B test a month and weekly notes.
- Enterprise costs $10,000 per month for up to $400,000 of spend on all channels with 60 creatives a month and a named account lead.
Paying annually takes 15 percent off. If you prefer a spend-based fee, it is 12 percent of monthly managed spend with a $3,000 minimum. You can cancel any month, and the change takes effect at the end of the paid month. Feed work in Merchant Center is part of every plan, which is how our Google Shopping agency service starts.
